Telangana HC Asks CBFC for Status on Certification for Movie 'Vyuham'

HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court on Friday directed counsel for Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) to inform the court of the status of granting of certificate to the movie ‘Vyuham.’

Justice Surepalli Nanda on Friday was dealing with a petition filed by the fiim-makers who challenged the stand of the CBFC in not certifying the movie due to the election code of conduct being in force in Telangana.

Senior counsel S. Niranjan Reddy, appearing on behalf of the producer, contended that there was no need for the certification to be delayed merely because of the elections. If any such decision is to be taken, it is the Election commission that has to do.

Senior counsel also requested a direction to the CBFC to review and grant certificate in a time-bound manner.

Standing counsel requested time to seek instructions from the CBFC regarding the status of the certification. The court adjourned the matter to November 28.
