Devil filmmakers import vintage instruments

The song was shot at traditional South Indian houses and palatial mansions like the Kanadukathan Palace at Karaikudi.

The makers of the Kalyanram-starrer Devil are leaving nothing to chance when it comes to the period setting. The film is set in the Madras Presidency of the 1940s, and the actor plays a British secret agent.

“To capture the feel of that time and make sure the music complements the narrative, we have imported unique vintage musical instruments,” says director Abhishek Nama, adding that thanks to these, the recently released Maaya Chesave song (shot with Kalyanram and Samyuktha Menon) was a huge success.

The song was shot at traditional South Indian houses and palatial mansions like the Kanadukathan Palace at Karaikudi. Drums and other percussion instruments, like the Djembe, the Bongo, Duff drums, Congo drums and even an hourglass-shaped Talking Drum were sourced from various countries.
