The toughest thing was to protect my look: Regina
Director Prashanth Varma required Regina to get a complete makeover for her role in his upcoming film, Awe.
“When director Prashanth narrated the story to me, I could visualise my role and was hell-bent on playing it. I knew that I had to go for a drastic makeover. I’m glad the look has surpassed expectations,” she shares.
Sporting funky braids, a nose-pin and several tattoos including a tree on her back and a slithering snake down a hand — Regina’s makeover complements the dark character she plays.
“It took the styling team more than 24 hours to get it right. My stylist Shanti, tattoo designer Mo and Vijay, did extensive research before zeroing in on this look. The makeover took place around the end of July, and it took a lot of effort to keep it a secret for so long! The most difficult part was to hide my look at public appearances (laughs). I couldn’t wait for my new look to be revealed!”
Regina says that there is a lot more to her role in Awe than meets the eye.
“The role is very versatile, with a few shades of grey. I enjoyed it so much that every time I saw myself in the mirror, I could feel the character. The role pushed me as a performer, and I hope I have pulled it off.”
