Rebel star's mysterious life

The Tollywood actor prabhas opens up about what he loves to do apart from acting, his wax statue and the wedding rumours.

He’s the most eligible bachelor of Tollywood and not only has Prabhas loved to live in a world of enigma, but has always been extremely shy of any kind of publicity.

Telugu tinsel town’s most sought after star Prabhas Raju Uppalapati, who made heads turn with his performance in Baahubali — The Beginning, turns 37 this Sunday and plans to celebrate his birthday weekend by launching the promos of his upcoming film. He talks about his next film, Baahubali — The Conclusion and why he likes to keep away from the preying eyes of his fans.

At the onset, we prod the young “Rebel” star on why not many people know much about him and why he likes to live an intriguing and mysterious life. He clarifies, stating, “I’ve never thought about doing publicity for myself. I’m usually shooting around the clock and I feel it’s important for my work to talk for itself.”

Nephew of veteran Telugu actor Krishnam Raju who celebrates his birthday on Sunday, shares, “I’m in Mumbai to launch the Baahubali 2 promos, teasers and posters on Saturday and will be spending the weekend working, but I don’t think of it as work. I feel it’s nice to spend time doing what I love and when you love what you do, it isn’t really work.”

About his other passions and holidays, the actor who has been in the industry for 14 years reveals, “I like travelling. I’m not a voracious reader, but I read when I get some free time. My favourite author is Ayn Rand. I also like spending time with close friends. We play volleyball on weekends. I love being close to nature. I like to go on holidays at beautiful scenic locales, where I can be close to nature. But at the same time, I’m also in love with vibrant and buzzing energetic cities.”

Baahubali star Prabhas’ wax statue will be displayed at the Madame Tussaud’s museum in Bangkok soon and we nudge him on what he feels about the statue that’s coming up next to all the stalwarts and he confesses, “When I heard it first, I was shocked. After my friend called me to give me the news, it actually took some time for me to understand what he was saying. I asked him if he was just joking. I was shooting for Baahubali then and I called Rajamouli to share the news and he hugged me. We were all extremely happy about it.”

Prabhas is working hard for his next most awaited flick and the Hyderabad-based actor (who has acted in Varsham, Chatrapathi, Chakram, Billa, Mr. Perfect and Mirchi) says, “So far, we have done action episode rehearsals and song rehearsals for Baahubali, but more than rehearsals, for me it’s about maintaining the flow of the character while shooting.”

Question him about the other film offers and the humble star smiles stating, “I’m getting good offers but the next two movies are going to be home productions. There will be more films, of course, but after a couple of years.” And when is he putting an end to all the speculations about tying the knot next year, we question and pat comes the reply, “I wouldn’t like to comment on that.”
