Mass Maharaja Desperate For A Hit

Seasoned actor Ravi Teja who delivered two back-to-back duds like ‘Ravanasura’ and ‘Tiger Nageswara Rao’ has to revive his winning streak sooner than later. “Ravi Teja has seen many ups and downs in his career but he definitely needs to deliver a money-spinner after lukewarm response for his last two releases,” says a source, who claims that Ravi Teja has to be careful in choosing good scripts rather than getting carried away by action-centric films. “He is doing action films to enhance his larger-than-life image without novel content. His last two releases dented his ratings a bit in the market,” he adds.

Ravi Teja should be banking on his next film with director Gopichand Mallineni since their earlier movie ‘Krack’ was a blockbuster. “Gopichand has a big responsibility since his film with Ravi is much-awaited. He understands the image of ‘Kick’ star and likes to cater to his fans, so it has some potential,” he points out.

Recently, Ravi Teja drew appreciation for his special role in ‘Waltair Veerrayya’ as he played an upright cop with ease. “His commercial entertainer ‘Dhamaka’ minted money at the box office and restored his salability factor after duds like ‘Khillladi’ and ‘Rama Rao On Duty’ he points out.

He is also in talks with director Anil Ravipudi to make a sequel to their earlier laugh-riot ‘Raja The Great’ and it would be another film that could put him back on the pedestal. “He is good in action and also has flair for comedy but he needs directors who can exploit them both, rather than making mindless action flicks,” he concludes.
