The second wave of the pandemic was devastating. However, Anu Emmanuel was more prepared for it than she was for the earlier one. “I was happy to stay indoors,” she tells us. Thankfully for the actress, none of her immediate and distant family members tested positive for COVID-19 either. So, the actress says it hadn’t been a scary period for her and that she enjoyed being alone throughout.
“I live alone and I am used to solitude. So it wasn’t difficult. In fact, last year too, I spent the lockdown period alone,” she says, adding, “I find cleaning and organising to be therapeutic, which is something I like to do when there’s a lot of time.” The biggest realisation of the actress is to not take things seriously.
“I focus on choosing films with the right content. And instead of checking if it’s an ensemble cast, I believe it’s important to look at the script,” she says, explaining her thoughts. “In a field like showbiz people are constantly telling us what to do and what not to do. So while remaining true to yourself can get challenging sometimes, it is essential to block out all the noise and listen to yourself.”
