With protests against the use of the phrases ‘namakam’ and ‘chamakam’ in one of the chartbusters of actor Allu Arjun's next, Duvvada Jagannadham, the makers decided to give up the controversial lyrics and have replaced them with ‘gamakam’ and ‘sumukham’ instead, despite director Harish Shankar’s unwillingness.
This changed song will be heard in the movie and has been cleared by the Censor Board too. The makers issued a statement about the same so as to give a clarity to all the protestors.
For the uninitiated, ‘namakam’ and ‘chamakam’ are sacred hymns used to praise Lord Shiva and their usage was objected to because of the placement in the song. Starring Pooja Hegde as the female lead, the film releases on June 23 and also has Rao Ramesh playing a key role.
