Writer Sulochana Rani no more

Her writings reflect the contemporary trends of the '60s.

Renowned Telugu novelist Yaddanapudi Sulochana Rani passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest in California on Sunday. She was 78 years old.
A native of Kaza village in Krishna district, Sulochana has written over 40 novels in her lifetime. Her writings reflect the contemporary trends of the ’60s.

Some of her most famous works include Athma Gouravam, Bangaru Kalalu, Jeevana Tarangalu, Secretary, Premalekhalu, Aathmeeyulu, Radha Krishna and Murali Krishna.

In the past, actors such as Sobhan Babu, Murali Mohan, and ANR, have evinced an interest in playing the male protagonist in films based on her novels.
Trivikram Srinivas’ 2016 film A...Aa was inspired by Sulochana’s novel Meena.
