New girl on the block!

Her audition for Nela Ticket could not have been easy, as she was given Telugu dialogues to read.

Mumbai girl Malvika Sharma is all set to try her luck in Tollywood. The actress will make her debut in the Ravi Teja-starrer, Nela Ticket.

As the film approaches its release, Malvika recalls how nervous she was on her first day on set. “I had the jitters as it was my debut film. While shooting my first scene, I goofed up a few times in the process of trying to get the diction right. But then I started taking Telugu lessons and improved. Since I knew that the director had cast me for the way I was, it made me a bit more confident.”

Her audition for Nela Ticket could not have been easy, as she was given Telugu dialogues to read. But she seems to have nailed it. “Although the language was new to me, I gave it my best shot, and I was brought on board,” she says.

Describing her role in the action-drama, she says, “I play a medico who has a tapori and tomboyish demeanour. I am just the same in real life, and so the director (Kalyan Krishna) asked me just to be myself. I wear minimal makeup and sport a ponytail throughout the film.”

The actress says that she had a great time working with her co-star Ravi Teja. “He’s a live wire! Matching his energy level is a challenge!”
When she’s not shooting, Malvika is busy studying to become a lawyer. How she manages to balance the two, we do not know! “Growing up, I always wanted to become a lawyer. I am currently in the first year of my law course. Initially, it was difficult for me to strike a balance between work and studies, but now I am used to it; thanks to friends and teachers who have been tutoring me” she says.
