Exclusive: Rana Daggubati meets former CBI chief to prep for film on Rajiv Gandhi

It came into light recently that actor Rana Daggubati will star in the film Aasphota — The Human Bomb that will be based on the assassination of former Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi. He will play the role of D.R. Kathikeyan, who headed the special investigation team that handled the case and received wide acclamation for the way his team conducted the investigation. And in preparation for the role, Rana recently met the former IAS officer.

“The duo met for breakfast at a restaurant in Hyderabad and spent a couple of hours discussing what had happened. The officer, who feels Rana perfectly fits the bill to reprise him, even gave him a book he had authored, Rajiv Gandhi Assassination: The Investigation, so that Rana would be able to research and prepare for his part,” shares a source.

The film, touted to be a bilingual (Telugu and Hindi) thriller was recently finalised. Director A.M.R. Ramesh was also present with the duo alongside Rana’s uncle and actor Venkatesh. The film is presently in pre-production and will go on floors soon.
