After it was officially announced a few days ago that Ram Gopal Varma would direct Akhil Akkineni in his next film, a source reveals that the project has been shelved and may not take place after all. RGV is presently directing Nagarjuna in Officer which is all set to release in May, after which he was supposed to do his next Telugu film with Akhil. “However, with the ongoing controversies surrounding the director, Nagarjuna decided to put the project on hold,” says a source.
Nag’s film has also come under fire because of the director’s controversial remarks and involvement in the recent casting couch episode. “Akhil is very young and has just started his career. Nagarjuna doesn’t want Akhil to work with RGV at this juncture,” adds the source.
Meanwhile, Akhil has signed a film with director Venky Atluri of Tholi Prema fame and the shooting is scheduled to start soon.
