What's the deal, Rakul?
Rakul Preet Singh, a top actress in Telugu cinema, is no more a part of the prestigious multi-starrer Venky Mama.
Until a few days ago, the makers maintained that Rakul and Shriya Saran were going to play the female lead roles. In a recent development, however, they have chosen Nabha Natesh to replace Rakul Preet.
According to a source, Rakul happened to sign another film and that has upset the makers. “Rakul recently signed up to play a role opposite Nagarjuna in his upcoming film Manmadhudu 2. On the other hand, in Venky Mama, the makers were looking forward to pairing her with Nagarjuna’s son, Naga Chaitanya. They found this pairing situation awkward and inappropriate, especially because both the films are anticipated to release around the same time. So they decided to cast another actress,” says the source.
They auditioned several actresses but finally, roped in Nabha Natesh. It was her performance in Nannu Dochukunduvate that earned her the role. Other than her outstanding ability to perform, she also lends some glamour to the film, says the source.
Venky Mama is going to be produced by Suresh Babu. The rest of the cast includes Venkatesh and Naga Chaitanya, who shall play the lead male actors, and Payal Rajput, who has replaced Shriya Saran and will be playing the female lead opposite Venkatesh. The official cast announcement is due soon.
