Unveiling of a blockbuster

At the trailer release of Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, director Surender Reddy says he believes it was the right time to make the film.

The much-awaited trailer of Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy was released on Wednesday, with producer Ram Charan and director Surender Reddy in attendance.

And even as the world awaits how the movie does in the box office, Ram Charan says he is not concerned about how much he has spent on the movie and how much he will make. “We wanted to tell the story of a person who started the first movement against the British. We’ve had this story with us for the last 10 years, and we finally made it now. It was my father’s wish to do this film,” he says. So was it easier to make this film now (and not 10 years ago) given the technology at hand, we ask. “Yes, if the film was made 10 years ago, our budget could have shot above Rs 500 crore, but now using the latest technology we’ve got the essence of the period drama and have managed to make it for Rs 200 crore. So from that perspective, the movie has been made at the right time,” says Surender Reddy.

Surender says he chose to make the film because Uyyalavada Narasimha Reddy’s life had enough commercial value in it, and then he goes on to compare Narasimha Reddy’s life with Chiranjeevi’s. “Chiranjeevi has also reached the top despite many struggles. I look at him and it gives me the strength I need to do this film,” says Surender Reddy.
