Malvi Malhotra to make Telugu debut

Acting is her calling, she says

After completing her Post Graduation, Malvi Malhotra landed a lucrative offer from an MNC. But after only three days at the office, she resigned to pursue her passion – theatre and films. While joining a theatre group, she bagged roles in the TV show Udaan and in the film Hotel Milan.

“I felt like I found my true calling,” she says about working in showbiz.

“Ever since I relocated to Mumbai, I wanted to become a performer and a theatre artiste. As I kept doing theatre I realised how liberating it was and chose films as my career,” she reveals.

Malvi was also part of several music videos in Punjabi apart from doing OTT shows. And now she is set for her Telugu debut with Thiragabadara Sami, starring Raj Tarun.

Giving us the backstory on how she landed the film, Malvi shares, “I met a music composer in Mumbai. Producer Malkapuram Shivakumar came from Hyderabad to meet the composer and I was introduced to him. He asked whether I would be interested in working for his film, and I immediately said ’ ‘Yes’.”

Malvi plays a garrulous girl in the A.S. Ravikumar Chowdary directorial. “I have an action episode too. It’s been very exciting shooting for the Telugu film,” she says, adding that her role will be on the lines of Genelia’s character in Bommarillu.

Much before she began shooting for the Telugu film, Malvi bagged a Malayalam film, Abhyooham, directed by Akhil Sreenivas. She says Malayalam was a tongue twister for her, but having done the film, Telugu was much easier for her to speak.

And she hasn’t stopped there! Malvi has signed on for a film in Tamil, reportedly a remake of Malayalam film Ring Master. “I am loving this journey. This is what I came to do - play different roles and be a performer,” she says.
