Having carved a niche for herself in the fashion and modeling world, Dayana Erappa is now trying her luck in films, and will soon be seen in filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s forthcoming film as one of the leading ladies.
Although she has been modelling for a long time, Dayana admits that she was still nervous to start off in films. “I literally had butterflies in my stomach and was scared! I even forgot my lines (smiles) and totally went blank. Only after a few scenes, I slowly got the hang of it. The film gave me a great insight about how different films are from modeling,” says Dayana.
Talking about her role, the Coorgi lass says, “I play a fun, adventurous and independent girl; that’s how I am in my real life, so I could pull it off. In fact, Mani Ratnam sir asked me to be myself for the part so that it looks natural.”
Revealing that Mani Ratnam is a taskmaster, the actress says, “He is a visionary and his clarity of thought is fantastic. He knows how to get the best out of the actors, and I’m fortunate to debut in his film.”
Describing Simbu as a cool co-star, Dayana says, “Simbu helped me with my continuity lines and scenes when I forgot (smiles).”
