Sympathy factor helps Kobbari Matta
Actor Sampoornesh Babu has been a sensation ever since Hrudaya Kaleyam released. While he was known to be a rich NRI, it was only recently that he revealed in an interview that he and the film’s director Steven Shankar (Sai Rajesh) had very strategically positioned the film in a bid to garner attention. In fact, the actor’s original name isn’t Sampoornesh (he is Narsimha Chary) at all, and he isn’t rich either (he hails from a poor background and Hrudaya Kaleyam changed his financial standing to an extent). The news went viral and social media was abuzz with the sudden revelation.
Interestingly, this has come as quite an advantage for the duo’s upcoming film Kobbari Matta, which releases in June. “After coming to know of Sampoo’s background, there’s a sense of sympathy for the film and him now. Many are looking at him in a completely different light. That in turn is proving to be quite a boost for the film’s pre-release business because the interest has multiplied,” shares a source in the know. Apparently, it was a tough decision for the actor to reveal the truth because his image had been carefully created over the years.
Meanwhile, a song from the film, Androidu, is set to release soon. Already, the previously released posters and sneak peeks into the film have been received well. Starring Geethanjali and Ishika as the female leads, the film is directed by Rupak Ronaldson and has story, screenplay and direction by Steven Shankar.
