Tollywood braves virus scare
At a time when most filmmakers have either postponed or halted shooting schedules, Telugu movie stars seem to be pressing on bravely with their work. Actors like Prabhas, Allu Arjun and Mahesh Babu have been continuing with their respective films despite the upsurge in COVID-19 cases.
Prabhas has just commenced a fresh schedule of shooting for Radhe Shyam in Hyderabad. But the film’s director Radhakrishna goes on to clarify that, “It’s not a new schedule; we have just a few days of work left, and we wanted to shoot it quickly so that we wrap up the entire film. We didn’t want to postpone the whole thing for a long time for the sake of a few days’ work.”
He stresses that the unit is following all the SoPs during the shooting schedule.
Another actor who has been working non-stop is Allu Arjun. The stylish star has been shooting for Pushpa for over two weeks in Hyderabad.
Producer Ravi Shankar admits it is risky, but says, “We have already announced our release date (August 13), so we need to work towards it.” “Moreover, all the precautions are being taken, and Allu Arjun garu has been very supportive,” adds the producer.
Mahesh Babu is continuing to work too. The superstar has just wrapped up his schedule of shooting for his upcoming film, Sarkaru Vari Paata. He will commence the next schedule next week. “Yes COVID-19 is worrying, but we have asked most of the crew who are in their mid-40s to take vaccines as per the government norms,” says producer Ravi.
Explaining that they wanted to have an edge over other films by completing the shooting, he says “If any crew member gets infected, we shall isolate him and continue with the shooting,” and adds that all the guidelines are being adhered to.
