Pawan Kalyan travelled 600 kms daily for 22 days

Filmmaker Sriram Venu tells us what about Pawan Kalyan inspired him the most while shooting 'Vakeel Saab'

Sriram Venu seems to be making the most of the lockdown. “Apart from assisting my wife in the household chores, I am playing with kids, watching films on video streaming platforms and trying my hand at culinary skills,” states Venu.

Before the lockdown was announced, Venu was directing the Telugu remake of Bollywood film Pink. Titled Vakeel Saab, the social thriller drama stars Pawan Kalyan, and according to the director, the film is close to Pawan’s ideologies.

“The film is a powerful statement on the existing feudal mindset. And Pawan garu is someone who believes in the concept of social justice. That’s why he is a natural fit to the story,” shares Venu.

The director further states that Vakeel Saab will be Pawan’s tribute to women. “The single did not have Pawan garu’s photo, which is something he suggested to us, realising the film has strong content and recall value for women. Then he speaks about how he was amazed to see Pawan Kalyan’s dedication.

“When the first schedule of the film shooting began in January, Pawan garu had previous political commitments in Vijayawada. So, he had to shuttle 600 kms daily between Vijayawada and Hyderabad, which he did for 22 days, non-stop. He used to travel during the day and come to the sets during nights,” adds Venu. “His energy was infectious, and his determination to complete the film fast pushed the entire crew.”

Venu is, however, convinced about the title for this female-centric film. “We wanted to reach out to a broader and wide range of audiences. We believe the audience will be convinced with the title after seeing the film,” justifies Venu as he signs off.
