Actress Rashmika Mandanna is in the news again and this time, it is for more than just her fantastic film career. The actress did a one-of-a-kind photoshoot to bring to light the alarming toxic levels of the infamous and frothing Bellandur Lake in Bengaluru, that is heaving due to water pollution, which is a great cause of concern for residents. And no, contrary to a lot of people’s belief, the actor did not step into the lake to shoot the underwater portions. The Kirik Party actress reveals, “It was an idea brought to me by my friend who spoke about general pollution and I wanted to cover water pollution in particular. It wasn’t a paid project, but it was a cause I was passionate about. 

We sat and discussed the location and other details of the shoot and one day, we packed and left to Bellandur Lake at five am and shot till one pm. Post that, we went to a friend’s place to shoot underwater.”

 

While Rashmika and her friends weren’t expecting much of a response,  they are now glad that the subject has been brought to the forefront. “People are finally talking about this issue and that’s a good thing. If a bunch of kids like us could do so something like this, then an actual attempt at taking action by people who matter might make a huge difference to the pollution problem and global warming in the years to come,” says the actress. The actress plans to put up the pictures on Twitter and Instagram to spread awareness about the lake.

 

While the actress who is now one of Kannada film industry’s highest paid actresses, personally, the youngster had to face vicious trolling from insensitive social media users who targetted her for her personal and career choices. On the bright side, on the movie front, there’s no stopping this rising star whose latest hit was the Telugu film Geetha Govindam. She’s now doing Dear Comrade with Vijay Devakarakonda, again. “In Kannada movies, I’m done working on Yajamana and I will start working on Pogaru soon. Bheeshma is another Telugu movie that I will be starting work on soon,” she adds.
