Mahesh was the problem solver, says Srikanth Addala
Superstar Mahesh Babu says that whenever director Srikanth Addala wants to discuss a scene with him, he immediately comes to his house on a bike.
In fact, Srikanth mostly uses his two-wheeler and prefers to maintain a low profile.
“I want to live my life like this,” adds Srikanth, who hasn’t bought a car yet. “It’s not that I don’t want to travel in cars, but I am more comfortable on my two-wheeler,” he says.
Talking about his upcoming film Brahmotsavam, he says that it’s a simple story. “Everyone is busy these days and are tensed with many problems. If a person meets four people he forgets his problems but later on the problems come back. With the same concept I have shown a few families,” says Srikanth.
It was Mahesh Babu who had approached Srikanth for a good story after which the latter narrated Brahmotsavam. “The protagonist (Mahesh Babu) lives with his rich parents in Vijayawada, but he is searching for more people. Why he needs these people and how he finds them is what the story is about,” says the director.
There are around 40 senior artistes in the film. “Initially I was a bit scared because there were so many big actors, but whenever I would have a problem, I would depend on Mahesh Babu to solve them,” adds Srikanth.
“I have never got such an opportunity in my career with so many artistes. The set was always full of fun with all of them. Sometimes when we shot a scene with two to three artistes, we felt bored as we were used to mingling with many actors,” he says.
Srikanth also wrote a song in the film apart from the dialogues. “Actually, the situation forced me to write the song. Many of the writers were busy at that time and we needed the song immediately, so I decided to write it,” he says.
The director is relaxed and satisfied with the output, and will be taking a break after the film releases. “I will go to my native place and spend time with my parents and friends. I write my scripts there too,” says Srikanth, who hails from Relangi village, near Tanuku, West Godavari district.
His father is a retired executive officer of the endowments department. “Yes, I have closely watched many big festivals at our temples and that might have had an impact on me,” he says.
“From my childhood I would see many people coming to my house and discuss festival plans with my father. I also attended many family functions and events and observed a lot. All these reflect in my characters,” says Srikanth.
“My daughter will join school this year and from now onwards I will plan according to her school holidays,” he says, adding that he hasn’t thought about future projects as he has been totally concentrating on Brahmotsavam.
