Nowadays, short films and their makers are making waves on the Internet and in Tollywood. Directors like Tharun Bhascker, Sankalp Reddy and Ravikanth Parepu, who made it big in Tollywood, all started out with short films. Now, to encourage short filmmakers, SIIMA —The South Indian International Movie Awards has decided to set up a panel to select the best of their films.

“SIIMA Short Film Awards is an initiative to bring out the talent of young filmmakers, who are set to change the dynamics of filmmaking with their fresh thoughts and techniques,” says Brinda Prasad, Chairperson of SIIMA.

The organisers are planning to take the best three short filmmakers to the SIIMA function. These filmmakers can narrate their story to the stars if they have anything in hand. If the stars like and accept it, then SIIMA would produce it.
