Baahubali: The Conclusion distributor served a Madras HC notice on financier's plea
Mumbai: The Madras High Court today sought the stand of the distributor of multi-lingual film 'Baahubali 2' on a financier's plea that it sold its film distribution right to another firm without clearing his Rs 1.48 crore dues.
Justice K Kalyanasundaram sought K Productions' stand on plea by financier S Karthikeyan who alleged that he funded his friend N Rajarajan and K Productions' proprietor to buy the film's distribution right but he sold his rights to distribute the film in Tamil Nadu to another firm Sri Green Productions.
The counsel for Karthikeyan's submitted to the single-judge bench that he helped his friend Rajarajan to secure the rights of the film by financial assistance worth Rs 1.48 crore through cheques.
He further submitted that the cheque issued by K Productions for the due amount to him was returned by the bank with the remark that the account stands closed.
On submissions by Karthikeyan's counsel, the bench issued notices, also to Sri Green Productions, authorising him to serve the same to the two firms. The notices are returnable by April 25.
To secure his dues, the financier has sought the court's direction to K Productions to furnish security of his dues failing which to attach the share of the revenue to be earned by Sri Green productions besides the foreign and satellite rights of screening the movie.
