Okka Kshanam in the midst of plagiarism row

The producer of 2 Memiddaram has raised a plagiarism charge against the makers of Okka Kshanam.

A few days ago, when the teaser of Okka Kshanam directed by Vi. Anand was released, it received a good response from the audience. Apparently, the sci-fi thriller is based on the concept of ‘parallel lives theory’. However, the novel concept is rumoured to be inspired from a Korean film Parallel Life. But the makers of Okka Kshanam have not made any statement regarding this, and the arrangements for the film’s release (December 28) are in full swing.

Interestingly, in the meantime, the trailer of a film titled 2 Memiddaram has been released. The story of this film is about a man whose parallel individual existed in 1977. The film is produced by Anil Sunkara. The buzz is that the film is an official remake of the Korean film Parallel Life. With both films having a similar theme, Anil Sunkara has made a plagiarism charge against the makers of Okka Kshanam stating that the film has similarities to that of his film 2 Memiddaram.

Muthyala Ramdoss, General Secretary, Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC), confirms, “Yes, we are in receipt of the complaint and are looking into the matter. We shall call the stakeholders for a meeting in the next two days.” Meanwhile, Chakri Chigurupati, producer of Okka Kshanam, rubbishes the claim saying, “Our story is totally different from that, perhaps the subject matter could have similarities, but the story and screenplay are totally different.”
