We used to fight a lot as kids: Rakul Preet Singh
These are the ties that bind. From sibling squabbles to becoming fast friends, business partners and even living in Hyderabad together, actress Rakul Preet Singh and her brother Aman Preet Singh share a very strong bond. But the actress admits it wasn’t always so.
Reminiscing from the sets of her film Dhruva, Rakul Preet says, “Till I completed my college, I was at home and we used to fight a lot. Three days after I moved out of our home in Delhi, he just called out of the blue and asked ‘when are you coming back’? There was nobody to fight with and we realised that we were both missing each other.”
Today, the actress says they have common friends and her brother is the managing director of a gym she has started in Hyderabad recently. “He has taken most of the burden from me as he is looking after the gym that I started,” she says.
“He is a naughty and fun person. Whenever he asks me what gift I want, I tell him to become whatever he wants in life and make everyone proud. He shares everything with me and I can share anything with him and we always maintain the same bond. When we were kids we used to fight a lot, but not now.”
So how will they celebrate Raksha Bandhan? “Unlike earlier, when my mother used to make special dishes and we would go out for dinner, we don’t do much as I have been busy with my shooting and travels. For the last five to six years, he comes to the sets to tie the rakhi. We make sure that we are at the same place at this time.”
Apart from her brother, Rakul calls actor Rahul Ravindra as her bade bhai. “I know him from the beginning of my career and his wife Chinmayi is also a good friend of mine,” she says.
