Against all odds

It has been a long wait for Virat, whose debut film Parichayam is finally releasing this Saturday.

Youngster Virat is eagerly waiting for his debut film Parichayam, directed by Lakshmikanth Chenna, to release this Saturday. “I have been trying my best to get a film from the last seven years and finally it is happening,” says Virat, who completed his BBM in Bangalore.

“It’s very difficult to get a chance. I gave so many auditions and finally met director Lakshmikanth Chenna for this film three years ago. We didn’t get a producer for a long time and the few that we got, abandoned the project soon after,” narrates the youngster, adding, “I even asked my father to invest in this film, but he refused, asking me to try by myself. Finally, we got a good producer Riyaz and I am excited that the film is releasing this week.”

Describing the film as an emotional love story, Virat says, “I play Anand, a college-going student who believes in values. Simrat Kaur is the female lead and this is her second film.

“Initially, she didn’t want to act opposite a newcomer as she had made her debut with Prematho Mee Karthik with a newcomer. But when director Lakshmikanth narrated the story to her, she liked it and agreed to do this film.”

Hailing from Chittoor and completing his graduation in Bangalore, Virat has been staying in Hyderabad from the last eight years. “I worked with the theatre group Ranga Shankara in Bangalore and Lamakaan in Hyderabad, both of which have helped me to give a better performance,” says Virat.
