Kaala casts a gloom over distributors

Distributors are also troubled about Rajinikanth's films not doing well at the box office.

That Rajinikanth’s latest film Kaala tanked in the box office is a cause of concern for many distributors in Tollywood. The distributors, who bought the rights of his upcoming film 2.0, find themselves in a soup as the film’s release has been postponed to next year.

In order to avoid interest burdens, various distributors in the South who have paid a high advance amount to the makers of 2.0, are now asking that their advance amount be returned.

Sunil Narang, who has brought the distribution rights of the Rajinikanth-starrer for AP and Telangana, is also expecting his advance amount to be returned. However, things have been delayed, leaving Sunil and his peers in a fix.

A source says, “The return of the advance has been delayed. Distributors are also troubled about Rajinikanth’s films not doing well at the box office.”
However, Sunil has denied the reports. “The production house has voluntarily offered to return the amount since the film has been indefinitely postponed,” he says.
