Director Priyadarshan is a name to reckon with in Malayalam cinema and Bollywood. While several of his films have been remade in Telugu, he has directed only one Telugu film so far. Nirnayam, starring Nagarjuna was a box office failure but was appreciated for the music renderred by Ilaiyaraaja. However, it seems he is set to make a comeback in Telugu cinema with Venkatesh now.
The actor who is known to have a keen eye for stories in other film industries, having starred in several remakes too, apparently met up with the director to discuss a script.
“Venkatesh really liked Mohanlal’s Oppam (released as Kanupapa in Telugu), and was impressed by how Priyadarshan portrayed the actor. He also loved how the story was conceived. He soon got in touch with the director and discussed the possibility of teaming up,” shares a source. Last seen in Guru, Venkatesh has been very picky about his films. It is to be seen if this duo’s liaison sees the light of the day.
