I never cared about failures: Nani

A few years ago, Nani had been written off by the fraternity for he was delivering only failures.

Actor Nani has been on quite a run lately, and is now being considered in the top league of actors following the success of his more recent films. His upcoming film Jersey is releasing on Friday and has high expectations to meet. In the sports drama, the actor will be seen as Arjun, a budding cricketer who aspires to play for the Indian team. “Although cricket is part of the film, there’s a fair amount of emotional drama in the story. This film is indeed very special to me and will hopefully do good to my career,” he said.

“In fact, on the last day of the film’s shoot, I felt as though I was parting from a very close friend of mine. When I got home from the set that day, everybody at home complained that I looked dull and depressed. I was indeed attached to my character in the film,” Nani further explained.

He seems quite upbeat about the film’s potential.

“Sometimes, you just know a film’s fate while you’re shooting. You just know that you’re doing something bigger than everything you’ve done earlier,” he remarked about his forthcoming film.

Content comes first for the Gentleman star. “I believe it is content that can drive an actor to stardom, and I believe in doing my best to do justice to my part. Fortunately, my films have brought me where I am today,” he said.

A few years ago, Nani had been written off by the fraternity for he was delivering only failures. Now, however, the tables have turned and the actor has become known for his versatility. “Nobody would expect me to deliver a film like Evade Subramanyam after delivering four consecutive failures. Once a film releases, I move past it and on to the next film. Looking back doesn’t help, so I prefer not to,” Nani said.

The actor said that although he had initially took pointless criticism to heart, he has now learnt to ignore that kind of news. “I felt terrible upon reading the negative commentary about my role in Pilla Zamindar. However, I’ve learnt to ignore such publicity now.” The actor believes that web series are becoming increasingly popular these days. “Almost all major production houses are coming up with web series. No one has approached me for one so far, but that’s probably because I’m already caught up with the films that I’ve taken up.” On a conclusive note, Nani expressed his views on the evolution of Tollywood. “The industry is changing for the better. New talent is coming in, and the actors’ mindsets have evolved,” the Krishnarjuna Yuddham star said.
