After a brief hiatus, Gurleen Chopra has signed her next Telugu film Rowdy Police. The actress will be seen in the role of an intense cop in the action entertainer directed by Johny.
Talking about her role, Gurleen says, “I have always wanted to be a part of a female centric film that sends out a strong message to the society that women are powerful too. I’m glad I got the opportunity with this film.” She adds, “This role gives me a chance to be different, and hence I picked up the project. The film touches the subject of child trafficking and I track down the culprits.”
Revealing how she prepared for her role, the actress says, “After watching yesteryear actress Vijayashanti’s films and several other cop entertainers, I tried to adopt a similar body language and look. This role will surely be a surprise package.”
Interestingly, Gurleen apparently performed the action sequences on her own. “I wanted my role to look authentic. I also underwent training and worked out for a brief time to get into a cop’s shoes,” says the former Miss Chandigarh.
Gurleen, who is also a part of several big ticket productions by Eros and Viacom in Bollywood, says that working in Telugu has been a liberating experience.
“It’s a great experience working in the Telugu film industry. Since I also have an understanding of the language, I can express myself better,” she says.
