We never discuss politics, only films, says Nandamuri Kalyan Ram
Nandamuri Kalyan Ram’s upcoming film is MLA: Manchi Lakshanalunna Abbayi. The actor mentions that the topic of politics has also been touched upon in the film. “There is a political theme, but not in a serious way. The director, Upendra is someone who likes entertainment, so he narrated the film to me with that point of view. And anything related to politics is just for fun,” says Kalyanram, adding that he tries something new in each of his films.
Further, “My diction has changed and the way I deliver my dialogues in the film is completely different from my previous films,” he shares. Mentioning that Upendra is also a writer, which makes it easy for him to improvise dialogues on the spot, he says, “Sometimes a two-page dialogue can be shortened to a single line, that’s the advantage if the director is also a writer.”
On the subject of real-life politics, Kalyanram, however, says that he is not interested. “I am not interested at all! It’s always difficult to travel in two boats; so although I’ve also become a producer, it is taken care of by my brother-in-law, Hari Krishna. So, I am interested only in films and I am happy here,” he clarifies.
Apparently, the actor shares a strong bonding with his younger brother Jr. NTR.
So do they discuss about films and politics? “No, we never discuss politics, only films. We are still young to talk about politics and we are not politicians. If some important article is published somewhere, then we read it and have a casual discussion at our level. We discuss films, the latest technology and a lot about cars because we both like cars,” reveals Kalyan Ram.
Talking about films, some time ago, a multi-starrer project was announced with Kalyanram and Sai Dharam Tej as the lead actors. However, “The director didn’t narrate the full story to me. I am open to do multi-starrers with anyone,” he says.
After completing MLA, Kalyanram will work on Naa Nuvve directed by Jayendra. “I will be doing a romantic love story for the first time,” he comments. Interestingly, the makers had roped in a fresh face as the female lead and then replaced her with Tamannah. “The cinematographer, P.C. Sriram was not satisfied, so we had to go for an experienced actress,” he reveals.
