This summer in Tollywood, three upcoming films will have cricket in the backdrop of their stories. Majili, starring Naga Chaitanya and Samantha, is based on the story of a cricketer, played by Chaitanya.
Directed by Gowtham Tinnanuri, the story Jersey, too, revolves around the theme of a cricketer who is trying to make it to the Indian cricket team. However, the unit staff claims that Jersey is a tale of a father-son relationship. The third film set around cricket, that is set to release this summer, is Dear Comrade, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna as the lead pair. Although the central theme of this movie revolves around student politics in a college, cricket plays an important role in making the story complete. This is going to be Bharat Kamma's debut as a director.
