Tollywood in crisis after govt's demonetisation move
Hyderabad: The makers of the recent release ‘Rock On 2’ had blamed the government’s demonetisation move for the poor response that the film received at the box-office and it seems that the decision is also affecting other film industries across the country. The Telugu film industry also seems to be facing severe problems as the release and shooting of several films have been affected.
Telugu films such as ‘Intlo Deyam Nakem Bhayam’, starring Allari Naresh and ‘Dhruva’ starring Ram Charan Teja, which were slated to release this Thursday, have been pushed back till December and the release of 12 other films are also in limbo, reports The Indian Express.
Theatres have been running empty in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh since the announcement of the decision, severely affecting the box-office collections of numerous films. Producers and distributors are hence apprehensive about releasing the film during this period.
Shooting has also been halted in several film studios like Ramanaidu Studios, Ramoji Film City, Annapoorna Studios and Padmalaya Studios in Hyderabad.
The shooting of the N Balakrishna-starrer ‘Gautamiputra Satakarni’ has also been halted because of the move as junior artistes and assistants have been demanding their wages and payment has become difficult.
