Keerthy Suresh tops the list of versatile actresses, with an interesting choice of scripts. She says she’s proud of her choices during her seven years in showbiz.
“It’s been great and I am happy with the place I am in now; I would like to thank my parents who are my inspiration. Without their support I would not have come this far,” she reflects.
While she played a college-goer in one film, Keerthy is seen as a girl-next door in another. She has also played larger than life roles like in 'Mahanati', and her upcoming film, 'Penguin'.
“I play a mom in the physiological thriller and what I liked about the role was the different kinds of emotions I had to exhibit,” she reveals, adding, “I tried to see the role from my mother’s point of view. I acted out the way she had raised me. So it was a bit nostalgic for me.”
The Rang De star says, “I never felt compelled to do anything,” and adds, “I always believed in my instincts and that helped me.”
Usually, artistes end up sacrificing their interest in one film industry for another, but Keerthy has struck a balance, working in multiple industries.
“It was not a conscious attempt, but I was offered so great a role. Also, I am lucky that I had the opportunity to work in multiple industries,” she explains
The Nenu Sailaja star believes in spacing out her films, as every character demands something from her. “It’s only then you can naturally reinvent yourself and surprise the audience,” she explains.
“There will always be pressure, but I always try to be a better version of myself every time. That’s challenging. Success only gets you better opportunities, and of-course responsibilities. I enjoy learning with every film,” she beams.
The actress also shares that her degree in costume designing is helping her understand the nitty-gritty of the wardrobe.
Having been part of several romantic entertainers, interestingly, Keerthy was never linked up with her co-stars.
Asked to comment on this, she laughs, saying, “That’s because there’s nothing to write about!” She goes on to add that, “One thing I never wanted to happen when I came to the industry was being written about in that way. I made a conscious effort not to give room for link-ups. Moreover, I wanted to be true to myself and my space.”
Away from films, Keerthy likes spending time with family, practising yoga and playing the violin.
