Puri Jagannath beaten up, files case against 'Loafer' distributors

Jubilee Hills police has booked a case against the trio.

Hyderabad: Three film distributors allegedly assaulted Tollywood director Puri Jagannath in his house following a financial dispute. The distributors came to the director’s house demanding money from him as they had suffered financial losses soon after the film Loafer. Jubilee Hills police has booked a case against the trio.

According to Mr Jagannath, who filed a petition at Jubilee Hills police station, three distributors, Sudhir, Mutyala Ramdas and Abhishek, came to his house three days ago and manhandled him. They also threatened him with dire consequences.

“The trio demanded money and threatened him. The director told them to approach the film’s producer C. Kalyan. But they attacked him instead,” said Jubilee Hills ACP Uday Kumar Reddy.

Loafer released on December 17, 2015 across 800 screens. According to sources, the distributors of the film faced massive losses after the film underperformed in the box office.

They have been demanding money from Mr Jagannath since The Varun Tej-starrer was produced by Mr C. Kalyan for Rs 14 crore. Jubilee Hills police has booked a case against the three distributors but no arrests have been made so far.
