Balakrishna beats Pawan Kalyan
Sankranti is the most-awaited film season for Tollywood lovers as showbiz biggies are pitted against each other! This year it was Balakrishna’s Jai Simha and Pawan Kalyan’s Agnyaathavaasi.
Agnyaathavaasi got a massive opening at the box office, but the following days witnessed a major set back. Because of the NRA (Non Recovery Agreement), the producer of PK’s film is safe, but the distributors and exhibitors will suffer.
Dil Raju, who bought the Nizam area rights for a whopping Rs 27 crore, has recovered only Rs 10 crore till now. It’s believed that the film’s overseas distributors are also incurring huge losses — they spent nearly Rs 22 crore (including publicity) on the rights but have been able to recover only Rs 12 crore.
Balakrishna’s Jai Simha received a decent opening but the collections are increasing everyday. The producers of the film didn’t sell the distribution rights in many areas. They kept it to themselves, and it has paid off!
