Trisha exits Twitter due to trolls

It is to be seen how things pan out for Trisha now.

Trisha has been an avid animal activist for a very long time now, and was associated with the animal rights organisation PETA for a campaign several years ago. Recently, Trisha has also spoken about the ongoing debate over the ban of animal sport Jallikattu (PETA is the organisation behind it), resulting in her becoming a target for many. The last one week has been quite disturbing for her. She was targeted by angry protesters at a shoot location post which she was forced to take refuge in her vanity van, she faced several online trolls who have been using vulgar slurs and abuses and making offensive memes, and the final straw came in the form of a tweet, which Trisha claims was the doing of a hacker. Several actors have condemned the personal attack on her. And then, this tweet from her account left everyone quite stunned: “I’m a Tamilian and I support @peta @PetaIndia cruelty to animals no matter how old the traditions are is no justification. #BanJallikattu (sic),” read the tweet.

She deleted it soon and expressed disgust that someone would do something so defamatory to her. Soon enough, she deactivated her Twitter account. In a statement explaining her stance, the actress revealed that she has been “deeply troubled and defamed” for no fault of hers over the last one week regarding the Jallikattu issue. “I made my stance very clear on my social networking account yesterday that I have never been against or opposed Jallikattu. I am a proud Tamilian by birth and I believe and respect in Tamil culture and tradition and would never go against the sentiments of my own people who had been instrumental in my growth and stature. But I am deeply hurt at the disrespect and filthy language being used at me and the people who supported me, by some vested interest,” she has said.

On Monday, Trisha’s mother Uma Krishnan met Chennai’s CoP and filed a complaint against the hackers of Trisha’s account. She also sought police protection while her daughter is shooting. Uma, reaching out to queries from the press has said, “Trisha isn’t actively involved in PETA and was never their brand ambassador. We support Jallikattu and she has never said anything against it.” It is to be seen how things pan out for Trisha now.
