For all those who’ve been waiting for some concrete action to be taken in light of the list of sexual allegations coming from the Telugu film industry, we have news. Apparently, a group of women from the industry have formed an independent support group to aid the victims.
According to a source, the Panel Against Sexual Harassment is being set up by the Film Chamber. “The group shall hear cases before forwarding them to the Chamber. For women, who are not aware of how they should report incidents, it will act as a source of guidance,” a source says.
The panel will feature some of the most well-respected names in the industry. From what we hear, the working committee will consist of Samantha Akkineni, Nandini Reddy, Jhansi, Amala, and Supriya Yarlagadda among others.
Meanwhile, the Film Chamber, in accordance with court directives, has asked all the production houses to set up an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) to immediately take up cases of sexual harassment at their workplaces. The cases dealt with by these committees will also be looked into by the panel.
