After the success of Mahanati, biopics seem to have become the flavour of the season. Films based on the lives of NTR, YSR and Pullela Gopichand have already been announced.
According to the latest reports, another biopic for us to look forward to may be that of actor-turned-politician Jayalalitha. We have learnt that Vishnu Induri is currently working on a script based on the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The project will be bankrolled by Vibri Media.
Induri is currently co-producing a film based on the ‘83 Cricket World Cup with Ranveer Singh playing Kapil Dev, as well as the NTR biopic starring Balakrishna.
“We have been working on multiple stories based on real people and incidents. But it’s too early to discuss a Jayalalithaa biopic. It takes time for an idea to become a reality. It took us six years to make a film based on the 1983 World Cup, and it took us three years to make the NTR biopic a reality,” he says.
Ask him why he has taken a sudden interest in real-life stories, and he says, “We (Vibri Media) have been involved in TV production for the past 15 years, with a focus on events. Now, we want to develop as a content company. We would like to tell real stories that can inspire this generation.”
