Fewer Telugu films at 20th International Children's Film Festival
Hyderabad: There was all praise for the movie Poorna on the last day of the 20th International Children’s Film Festival (ICFF). The movie’s story revolves around a tribal girl. It inspired many children who attended the festival this year. ‘Poorna’ is a 2017 Hindi biographical adventure film directed by Bollywood actor Rahul Bose.
As it is an international film festival, it has showcased movies from several languages, leaving Telugu to have just few. M. Sravya, a student-delegate from Hyderabad said, “We couldn’t understand the films as most of them were German films with subtitles. Despite conducting the film festival in a Telugu state, there were fewer Telugu movies screened in this festival, which was disappointing for us’’.
The festival, meanwhile, was attended largely by children from the cities as kids from villages may not be able to travel so far. M. Nirmala, a delegate at the ICFF from the Telangana Education Department, said, “Children from remote areas also deserve to take part in such events. Though Hyderabad is the best venue for this, organisers should plan to devise ways to reach out to children from remote areas. They could even be scree-ned in theatres in remote areas for the children.’’
