Not kicked about post-production
Despite the Government giving films the required permissions to resume their post-production works, a majority of the filmmakers are apparently not quite ready yet.
The post-production works, including editing, dubbing, computer graphics and DTS mixing, for around 15 films have been kept on hold purely because of the uncertainty over the theatres reopening.
Chota K. Prasad, the editor for films such as A1 Express and Naandi, which are currently in post-production stage, blames it all on the demotivating state of the hour.
“Filmmakers are in no mood to proceed with the post-production work. To begin with, they are not motivated,” adds Prasad.
“The situation is almost similar to when you don’t know when you will eat, why would you cook now? So also, filmmakers say they’ll be automatically driven to wrap up the post-production work quickly only after they get some clarity over the reopening of the theatres. ”
Prasad points to how merely wrapping up the post-production wouldn’t satiate filmmakers as they’d be bound to keep the product with themselves until the theatres open.
“About 19 per cent of shooting for both Naandi and A1 Express is completed. And because of the new norms —PPE kits, sanitizers, disinfectants, etc. to be made available on the sets — the producer will be compelled to shell out more,” points out Prasad.
