Malavika Mohanan, daughter of legendary cinematographer K.U. Mohanan has primarily acted in a handful of Malayalam ventures, but actress has now managed to impress maverick Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi! The director announced that his dream project Beyond The Clouds is an international project, that is set in India.
The film had first made headlines when Deepika Padukone was called in for a look test and her pictures went viral. This stunt didn’t go down too well with Majidi, who started looking for a replacement.
He then spotted Malavika and called her in for a screen-test and roped her in as the leading lady. A source reveals, “Majidi found his leading lady in Malavika as he was looking for a face that could fit the character.” Malavika says, “I’m really excited as it’ll be my first Hindi film. It’ll also do the international circuit and the exposure will be immense.”
The film also marks the debut of Shahid Kapoor’s brother Ishaan Khattar, and Malavika began shooting in Mumbai a few days ago. The film’s music will be composed by A.R. Rahman.
