Saindhav collections on the downhill?

Venkatesh is facing stiff competition at ticket windows and finding hard to draw crowds

The much-hyped action drama "Saindhav" is losing steam in the two Telugu states due to lesser footfalls in 250- odd theatres. The film released on January 13th. "Despite Venkatesh putting in a good performance as a fiery vigilante, the collections are not encouraging enough," says a distributor and adds, "The film registered Rs 3.8 crore net collections on day one and later collections began to slow down. It just managed Rs 2.36 crore net collections on day 2, despite being a Sunday," he adds.

The family saga revolving around the costliest injection in the world which is pegged at Rs 17 crore, isn't really drawing family audience in big numbers in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. "Despite being promoted as a father-daughter sentiment saga, it didn't attract more eyeballs in Telugu states since the fun and light-hearted moments are missing," he points out.

At last, Shailesh directorial managed to garner Rs 6.16 crore net collections till date and it has to go a long way to reach the breakeven point. "It has to collect another Rs 12 crores to make it safer for distributors in Telugu states but it looks quite difficult for now," he concludes.

With other films like 'Guntur Kaaram,' 'Naa Saami Ranga' besides 'Hanu Man' having a good run, Venkatesh has a tough task ahead.
