Young actor Ram Pothineni has surely hit a lean patch of sorts after two duds like ‘The Warrior’ and ‘Skanda’. He should be hoping to return with a bang with his next film ‘Double iSmart’ to regain his lost glory. “He played a cop in 'The Warrior' but it turned out to be damp squib since there was neither a unique plot nor good narration. He trusted Tamil director Linguswamy completely but he truly disappointed him,” says a distributor.
He later believed that action film director Boyapati Srinu would give him the much-needed hit and launch him as a big action star. “He joined hands with Boyapati to do a typical action-adventure bereft of logic and story. Ram performed well in emotional scenes and also flexed his muscles in two different avatars, but the audience couldn’t digest a hero taking on two Chief Ministers and 'Skanda' tanked at the box office,” he adds.
Now, he is banking on his next action film ‘Double iSmart’ with director Puri Jagannath, and hoping to deliver much-needed box office success. “The actor-director duo's earlier film ‘iSmart Shankar’ turned out to be a blockbuster and Ram proved his mettle with an energetic performance and Telangana dialect. They are hoping to recreate the magic with its sequel,” he concludes.
No doubt, the film has generated hype since Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt will be playing the dreaded baddy role in this action adventure and Ram is confident about his comeback sooner than later.
