The wrestling mania

Director Nirmal Kumar talks about his upcoming film, Mismatch.

After proving his directorial mettle with films like Salim and Sathuranga Vettai 2, filmmaker N. V. Nirmal Kumar has become a name every actor wants to work with. Now, he’s all set to cast his spell on another film, Mismatch.

Apparently, the film, inspired by true incidents, follows on the lines of Dangal and Sultan, and has a wrestling backdrop.

“While I was scouting for locations for a film in the East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh, I came across several wrestlers who’d played at the National level. After hearing their stories, I felt that a film had to be made on them,” reveals Nirmal Kumar.

Justifying the title, Nirmal says, “The film is about two lead actors (Uday Shankar and Aishwarya Rajesh) with contrasting characters. And while wrestling is an important element in the plot, it is a love story and family entertainer. It brings out true emotions of the two characters at the end of their journey.”

Nirmal believes that audiences are always encouraging and open to inviting innovative plotlines. Hailing producers G. Sriram Raju and K. Bharat Ram for their support, the director claims that working for the film was a great experience.

“I have always heard how emotional sportspersons can be, and this film made me closely experience that,” he adds. The film’s trailer, which was released recently by senior actor Venkatesh, has been garnering a good response.

“We are thrilled with the feedback and want to thank Venkatesh garu for his kind gesture,” Nirmal signs off.
