A lesser known fact about the Tollywood star’s tryst with TV is that it was none other than Salman Khan who suggested Jr NTR’s name for being the host of Bigg Boss’ Telugu version. Bhai, who has hosted several seasons of the Hindi version of Bigg Boss, and the T’town star, are very close friends, and have always supported each other. Salman even gave a special video byte for a Telugu show when NTR was making an appearance and the Telugu actor has played Salman’s fan in one of his films. And so, when the makers were considering names of several stars, Salman suggested that his friend Jr NTR would be a good bet. Things eventually did fall into place.
One of the top actors of Telugu cinema, Jr NTR will soon make his debut on television with the reality show Big Boss. After Nagarjuna and Chiranjeevi, it is now the actor’s turn to foray into television and host a show. The producers are expecting a big boost in their ratings, thanks to Jr NTR’s star power. So a lot depends on the actor as he is the only link between the audience and nearly a dozen celebrities who are locked in a house.
“Television is a powerful medium for entertainment and when I was approached for this show, I was intrigued by the challenge,” says Jr NTR, adding that “it will be a game changer.”
According to a source, Jr NTR is charging a bomb per episode. “He is taking double the fee which Nagarjuna and Chiranjeevi charged for their TV shows,” says a source, adding that the makers are spending nearly Rs 50 crore on the reality show for the first season.
Meanwhile, the celebrities who are going to participate in this show have not yet been decided although the show is expected to start in mid July.
