A couple of days ago, when she joined the sets of Godfather, Anasuya Bharadwaj, who lost her father recently, was still grieving; but she put up a brave show while on the sets of the Chiranjeevi starrer. “It is indeed very challenging,” says Anasuya, sharing that she can handle anything with regard to her professional life, but personally she’s very vulnerable.
“I can’t express my anguish in words, but my team knows what I am going through, and how tears have been rolling down my face as I put on my make-up,” she reveals.
“I tried my best and gave it my everything while shooting. I tried to put on a happy face, but it’s very difficult,” she reiterates. The actress, who also attended the pre-release function of the Allu Arjun-starrer Pushpa held on Sunday, says, “I want to contribute as much as I can because I am aware of the pressure the filmmakers go through.”
Ask her where she is drawing strength from during these tough times, and she attributes it to her upbringing. “The way I was brought up made me stay strong. My life after marriage made me even stronger and able to handle pressure,” she says.
The Kathanam star will be seen as Dakshayini in Pushpa. According to her, the role is a strong and intense one. Stressing that she doesn’t want to be judged by the type of role she plays, the actress says, “I want to be part of effective storytelling; I am a director’s actor.”
Though she hadn’t prepared much for the part, Anasuya says, “You are not spoon fed on the sets and at the same time you are not allowed to do everything you want as an actor, so there’s a fine balance you need to strike. And Sukumar Sir’s gives you that freedom to strike that balance.”
Revealing that initially she had doubts whether she would be able to pull it off, the actress says, “That’s because the role was an extreme one. I had similar apprehensions for my role in Rangasthalam, but the audience appreciated my role,” she reveals. “People say I am pulling off the roles because of my glamour. But I want to prove them wrong,” she says. Anasuya tells us that she’s proud of the choices she makes. “My approach to roles will be to do something different. Every time I play a role, a part of it stays in me,” she says signs off.
