Amala Paul shocks director Thammareddy

Filmmaker Thammareddy has come out in appreciation of Amala Paul’s performance in Aame, the dubbed version of Tamil flick, Aadai.

Popular producer and director Thammareddy Bharadwaj has bought the dubbed rights of the Tamil film Aadai, to be released in Telugu as Aame. The female-oriented film directed by Ratna Kumar has Amala Paul playing the lead.

“I came to the industry in 1979 and in these 40 years, I’ve made many films with actors such as Chiranjeevi, Suman, Bhanu Chander and Srikanth. I’ve also made many female and message-oriented films. But Aame and Amala Paul’s performance in it have left me in shock because I’ve never seen a film like this,” says Thammareddy, who adds that he had at the very beginning decided to buy the film’s rights and release it commercially.

But after seeing the film, Thammareddy says he’d appreciated even more the fact that it’s not easy to do a film like this. “Ratna Kumar is very passionate about films. Each and every shot of the film is simply superb,” adds Thammareddy, who then praises Amala Paul for her role in the film.

“I don’t think in this present generation anyone performs like Amala. I feel proud that I am part of this film and a part of the team that’s releasing it in Telugu,” says Thammareddy.

The filmmaker also added that women are far gutsier today, coming forward as they do about many issues, and that everyone should appreciate them. “It’s not right for people to troll women on social media,” he says. Aame’s director Ratna Kumar and Amala Paul were in Hyderabad to promote the film.
