It’s been nearly three weeks since Vidya Balan was approached for the role of Basavatharakam (NTR’s wife) in the NTR biopic. However, the Bollywood actress is still dilly-dallying over playing the role.
The delay in Vidya’s decision has got the filmmakers feeling apprehensive as it is reminiscent of a similar case that happened last year.
Apparently, when the 39-year-old was approached for a Malayalam film in 2017, after giving it a lot of thought, she eventually backed out from the project. The disheartened filmmakers had to replace her with Manju Warrier.
In the present situation, although NTR’s filmmakers are confident that Vidya will come on board, last year’s incident is still haunting them.
At the same time, during the discussion meeting, the Kahaani actress had pressed for a few things. A source says, “Vidya had asked the filmmakers to shoot all her scenes in the script, and also ensure that those scenes were there in the final cut. The filmmakers are only too happy to oblige!”

In the wake of the Movie Artistes Association (MAA) banning actress Sri Reddy from acting in any Telugu films (following her topless protest in the middle of the street), director Teja has said that the actress is still welcome to join his films.
Teja had earlier offered Sri Reddy a chance to star in two of his projects — the NTR biopic and Venkatesh’s film. The director states, “My offer stills stands good! It is up to her whether she takes it up or not and how she solves the issues.”
