Mega Brothers Dare to Touch Tamil Star Ajith Movies

'Bholaa Shankar', the Telugu remake of Ajith's Tamil blockbuster hit 'Vedalam' has failed to draw expected openings at the box office. And the critics too have panned the movie for its weak content. Tollywood megastar Chiranjeevi must have now realized that remaking Tamil star Ajith's film was a risky proposition.

Even though he justified the remakes culture, saying novel content from other language movies should be remade, he must now havre second thoughts for sure following his latest release, Bholaa Shankar'd dismal performance at the ticket window.

Earlier, his brother, Telugu Power Star Pawan Kalyan burnt his hands after he remade another Tamil film, ‘Veeram’ as ‘Katamarayudu’ after it bombed at the box office. The only connection between these two movies is Tamil star Ajith, whose films are high on heroism and less on content. “It is very true because Tamil star Ajith Kumar is not very serious about good content and just relies on charisma to pull in crowds, which he does effortlessly. He just finds a pliable producer and director and goes about his work,” says veteran Tamil producer Kayaar.

He also asks Telugu heroes to look into the timing of the release of films like ‘Vedhalam’ and ‘Veeram’. “They should have been released on a holiday or during festive season, which could have brought in collections. Telugu actors have to factor in those things while risking with a remake. They shouldn’t just go by box office collections and overlook content before taking up remakes since it could turn risky,” he adds.

Kayaar urges Telugu stars to form a special team to study the original version and come up with suggestions and changes that suit the taste of the Telugu audience. “The team members have to deeply study and understand the content of the original film and should come up with appropriate changes to deliver a safe remake, rather than just doing a copy paste job. There shouldn’t be a big time gap between original and remake, since a lot of scenes would have been copied in other films, making the remake stale and lifeless. Since every film has to reflect the present circumstances and also have to compete with novel content on OTTs,” he points out.

The message is loud and clear, know what you are getting into and factor in elements that would affect the fortunes of the movie. This should be a lesson learnt the hard wat for the mega brothers. Hope the other filmmakers wanting to attempt remakes don't repeat the mistake.
