Samantha Akkineni has been doing some interesting roles of late. According to a source, she is playing a cab driver in one of her upcoming projects. The source reveals that debutant director Giri narrated a story and the actress was impressed with the script. “She is playing a cab driver and it’s a crime thriller,” says the source.
The film is said to be inspired by the English film Collateral that stars Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx. In the English film, Jamie Foxx is a cab driver and Samantha’s role is modelled on those lines. The film will be launched on July 23. The story revolves around Samantha and for the other roles, the director has roped in not-so-popular actors.
The film was supposed to be produced by Kairos Kontent Studios that is producing the Hindi film Manikarnika. But as the Hindi film has gone over budget, they aren’t sure about backing this project.
